So far this week we have participated in some really fun activities! We kicked off our school year with a scavenger hunt around Schuler. The fun continued in our classroom!
In our Science 7/8 class we used the scientific method to save Sam, a gummy worm. He was trapped on top of his boat (a plastic cup) and needed to put on his lifejacket (a gummy lifesaver). The students had to document their efforts as they tried to save Sam using only paperclips! In the end every group was successful in saving Sam.
In our Language Arts 6-8 class we participated in an Escape Room. The students had to decode puzzles and crack codes. Some of the codes required the students to alphabetize words, while others had them analyzing poems! When the students felt like they had the correct answer they put it in the Escape Room Google Form. When they had all of the answers correct they escaped! The students showed fantastic teamwork skills during this activity.
I can't wait for more fun to come this year!
